A fake degree certificate racket purportedly run by a group of at least four persons was busted in this district and the alleged kingpin arrested on Thursday, police said today.
A computer and some other gadgets allegedly used for printing of fake academic degree and computer course certificates were seized from the main accused (identity withheld).
"For past few weeks, police were getting inputs about the group involved in the issuance of fake degree certificates. The shop from where the illegal operations were being carried out since long was raided yesterday and the main accused held," Shamsher Hussain, SP Kupwara told reporters.
"A manhunt has been launched to arrest the other accused, who have been at large since last evening. They will be nabbed soon," he asserted, while displaying "the fake certificates recovered from the accused."
The police did not identify the other accused who are at large to evade the arrest. The accused allegedly operated from a computer printing and Photostat shop at Jamia road Kupwara.
