Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader, Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami, Sunday said that the farmers and orchardists in the state are facing uncertainty about their future due to the alleged callous approach of the authorities.
Tarigami issued the statement while addressing a daylongKissan Tehreek conference in Kulgam.
“The core sectors of our economy-agriculture andhorticulture-have been neglected. The government needs to come to the supportof the farmers and orchardists, as they form the backbone of the state’seconomy,” he said.
Meanwhile, J&K Kissan Tehreek urged the government towaive off the agricultural loans availed by the farmers and orchardists.
During the conference, a district committee, comprising of30 members with Zahoor Ahmad Rather as President and Muhamad Yousuf Lone asSecretary, was also constituted.
