Farooq Shah inspects water treatment plant Rangil

As part of the continuous efforts of the Government to keep available potable drinking water in sufficient quantity to the common people of Srinagar city, the secretary, Public Health Engineering (PHE) I&FC, Farooq Ahmad Shah, Thursday, inspected Water Treatment Plant (WTP) Rangil in Ganderbal to take stock of its functioning, an official spokesman said. 

He said the secretary inspected both 20 MGD and 10 MGD reservoirs, in addition of touring water purifying units, alum tanks, bleaching unit, flash mixer cum stilling chamber, water testing laboratories and pump room.

   

The secretary said that after the completion of Sukhnag and Nowhar water treatment plant, Srinagar would have sufficient potable water supply 24X7. He also directed the officials to prepare a DPR for upgradation of Rangil WTP so as to be prepared for future requirements also.

Shah stressed upon the engineers to maintain quality and ensure that potable water is supplied to consumers regularly. He asked the establishment to maintain the records properly and directed the engineers for expedite metering process of water to generate more revenue.
