The election of Greater Kashmir Editor-in-Chief, Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo as president of the Kashmir Editors Guild (KEG) has been widely hailed by political and social organisations. 

ANOTHER FEATHER IN YOUR ALREADY FULL CAP:  OMAR ABDULLAH  

National Conference Working President and former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has congratulated Greater Kashmir Editor-in Chief. "Congratulations on taking over as the head of the Editors Guild. This is another feather in your already full cap. May Allah grant you more success and recognition. All the best for your new responsibilities," Omar said in his congratulatory message to Fayaz Kaloo. 

LOOKING  FORWARD TO GUIDANCE OF NEW KEG TEAM:  DIRECTOR INFORMATION 

Director Information and Public Relations, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary has felicitated Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo for being elected President of the KEG.

Dr Shahid has also extended his felicitations to Bashir Manzar, Chief Editor, Kashmir Images, Tahir Mohi-ud-Din, Chief Editor, Chattan for being elected General Secretaries of KEG. 

"Congratulations to Masood Hussain, Editor Kashmir Life, Haroon Rashid Shah, Executive Editor Nidai-e-Mashriq and Shafat Kira, Editor, Kashmir Vision for being elected as Secretary General, Organizer-cum-Treasurer and Spokesperson of the Guild respectively," he said. 

He said that as the State's Director Information, he will be looking forward to build on and strengthen the professional relationship with the media fraternity especially the new office-bearers of KEG, who are among the most experienced names in the field of journalism and have contributed immensely towards institutionalizing the profession in the State.

"I will be looking forward to the guidance and cooperation of the new KEG team for effective dissemination of information for the larger good of the State and its people," Dr Shahid said. 

HE IMMENSELY CONTRIBUTED TOWARDS BETTERMENT OF JOURNALISM: CONGRESS 

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) President GA Mir congratulated Fayaz Kaloo for being elected as President KEG.

"The contributions of Fayaz Kaloo sahab towards the betterment of journalism in the state are immense. He took journalistic activities to new heights in Jammu and Kashmir and through Greater Kashmir, English journalism got a new dimension in the state," Mir said in a statement.

Hailing Fayaz Kaloo's contributions to the journalism in the state, Mir said, "Kaloo sahib deserves being elected as the President of Kashmir Editors Guild as he has remained an influential contributor to journalism in Jammu and Kashmir. Kaloo sahib and his team in Greater Kashmir and Kashmir Uzma have given a new dimension to the field of journalism." 

Mir congratulated Chief Editor Kashmir Images Bashir Manzar and Chief Editor Chattan for being elected as Vice Presidents of the Guild.

Peoples Democratic Front (PDF) President and MLA Khansahib, Hakim Muhammad Yasin also congratulated Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo. 

"Kaloo sahab took journalistic activities to new heights in Jammu and Kashmir. Through Greater Kashmir, English journalism got a new dimension. It was due to the efforts of Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo that English newspapers started to publish in large number across Kashmir Valley," Yasin said in a statement.

"Last year Kaloo sahab was nominated to the Executive Committee of Editors Guild of India and this time he has been elected as President of KEG. He deserved the honor for his immense contribution in the field of journalism," Yasin added.

He also congratulated others including Kashmir Images Chief Editor Bashir Manzar, Chief Editor Chattan Tahir Mohiuddin sahib and other for their election as KEG office bearers.

GK HAS BECOME VOICE OF VOICELESS: DAK

Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) president Dr Nisar ul Hassan congratulated Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo on becoming head of the prestigious journalist body.

"Fayaz sahib deserved the honor for his immense contribution in the field of journalism. It was because of his hard work, dedication and courage that he created an institution which has become voice of the voiceless. He worked against all odds to keep world informed about Kashmir. He was an inspiration to over a dozen of English dailies that have started publication in the valley," President Doctors Association of Kashmir (DAK) Dr Nisar ul Hassan said in a statement. 

"Last year, it was a moment of great pride to all of us when he was nominated to the Executive Committee of Editors Guild of India.

We are hopeful that with new role, he along with his office bearers will carry forward the profession of journalism with same enthusiasm," he said. 

"Media has played a vital role in strengthening and shaping the society. It is the responsibility of new body to promote highest ethical standards in journalism which is about finding and reporting truth.

People do not know about the truth and they believe what is written on newspapers is truth. It is obligatory on the Guild to safeguard public institutions by making public servants accountable. In order to have an impact of the perception generated by media it is essential to build trust among readers. We believe that the newly elected body will continue to potray the plight and problems of people that will strengthen the bond between media and readers which is so essential for the trust," said Dr Nisar added. 

INFLUENTIAL CONTRIBUTOR IN FOURTH ESTATE OF STATE POLITY: NC 

National Conference has also felicitated Greater Kashmir Editor-in-Chief. "Fayaz Kaloo's contribution in institutionalizing local journalism in the State was exemplary and would set the tone for growth and qualitative evolution in journalism for decades to come," NC State Spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu said congratulating Fayaz Kaloo on behalf of the party. 

"I am sure that under his presidency of the Editors' Guild, journalism in the State would be strengthened further to uphold the ever-sacred values of objectivity, courage and fairness – values that the journalistic fraternity in the State has always enshrined in its work," he said.  

The NC Spokesperson also congratulated Chief Editor of Kashmir Images, Bashir Manzar and Editor Chattan Tahir Mohiuddin on their appointment as Vice Presidents of the Kashmir Editors' Guild and said their contributions in reflecting truth amid a din of noise and distortion had steered the narrative on crucial issues towards realism and clarity.  

Mattu also congratulated Masood Hussain, Editor Kashmir Life, Haroon Rashid Shah, Executive Editor Nidai-e-Mashriq and Shafat Kira, Editor, Kashmir Vision for being elected as Secretary General, Organizer-cum-Treasurer and Spokesperson of the Guild respectively and said "the stalwarts of journalism in the State uniting in common efforts and goals aimed at strengthening the fourth-estate was a heartening development and would auger well for the State."

NC leader and MLC Dr Bashir Ahmad Veeri also congratulated  Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo saying his contribution towards transparent  journalism in the state will be remembered for times to come. "He took journalistic activities to new heights in Jammu and Kashmir and through Greater Kashmir; English journalism got popularized and  a new dimension," he said.

Appreciating Fayaz Kaloo's contributions to the journalism in the state, Dr Veeri said "he deserves being elected as the president of KEG as he has remained an influential contributor in fourth estate of the state polity.

"Fayaz Kaloo and his team in Greater Kashmir and Kashmir Uzma have brought transparency to the field of journalism," he said in a statement.

Dr Veeri congratulated Chief Editor Kashmir Images Bashir Manzar and Chief Editor Chattan for being elected as Vice Presidents of the Guild.

Jammu Kashmir RTI Movement has congratulated Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo saying "It is for the first time that senior most journalists of Kashmir have come under one umbrella which is a good sign for strengthening this important pillar of democracy."

"RTI Movement hopes that KEG under the leadership of Fayaz Ahmad Kaloo will try its best to perform journalistic ethics. We hope that guild will take up the issue of continuous ban on Kashmir Reader with the authorities as well" said Dr Raja Muzaffar Bhat Founder and Convener of J&K RTI Movement

The Kashmir Economic Alliance has congratulated Fayaz Kaloo. 

"I congratulate Fayaz Kaloo and Masood Hussain. At the same time I  urge them to use their wealth of experience to take the media to heights never previously attained. I am sure that they will succeed in this latest assignment," said Kashmir Economic Alliance Co chairman Farooq Ahmed Dar. .

Former Minister and senior Peoples Democratic Party leader Muhammad Dilawar Mir and his son MLA Rafiabad Yawar Mir also felicitated Fayaz Kaloo.

Senior PDP leader and Spokesperson Rafi Mir also congratulated Greater Kashmir Editor-in-Chief saying his contribution in the field of journalism has been of protecting public interest and bringing truth to the fore.

"His fearless and unfailing service towards highlighting the plight of people of Kashmir has strengthened the fourth estate in Kashmir over these years as he never compromised with the rights of people," he said.

"Terming media as sword arm of democracy, Mir exuded confidence that under Fayaz Sahab's leadership the Editor's guild will create and shape a space for media where it will protect the public interest and act as mirror," added the statement.

'GK HAS GROWN AS AN INSTITUION PAR EXCELLENCE'

The Kashmir Traders and Manufacturers Federation President Haji Muhammad Yasin Khan congratulated Greater Kashmir Editor-in-Chief.

"Fayaz Kaloo has always given due attention to the interests of the state in general and Kashmir in particular. Over the years, it is only because of his dedication, honesty, courage and professional acumen that Greater Kashmir has grown as an institution par excellence," Khan said

Kashmir News Service (KNS) has also felicitated Fayaz Kaloo.

In his message, KNS Editor-in-Chief Muhammad Aslam said "with Fayaz Kaloo's election as the president, it is hoped that he would help in resolving the issues of the journalist fraternity and media organisation."

EJAC President Abdul Qayoom Wani has also felicitated Fayaz Kaloo saying "we appreciate his contribution in the field of professional journalism."

"Fayaz Kaloo is deserving the honour for his immense contribution in the field of journalism because of his hardwork ,dedication and honesty. He created an institution like Greater Kashmir which has become the voice of voiceless people of Jammu and Kashmir. He worked against all odds and kept the world informed about the miseries of people of Jammu and Kashmir," Wani said.

Wani also felicitated Bashir Manzar, Tahir Mohi-Din for being elected as vice presidents KEG besides Masood Hussain, Haroon Rashid, Shafat Ahmad Kira for being elected to various posts of the Guild.

REMARKABLE DEVELOPMENT IN JOURNALISM IN KASHMIR: IEEMA

The Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers Association (IEEMA) congratulated , Greater Kashmir Editor-in-Chief.  "It is a remarkable development in the field of journalism in Kashmir," said Sunil Misra, IEEMA's Director General.

"Under the able leadership of Fayaz Kaloo, Greater Kashmir has played a significant role in the development of power sector and electrical equipment industries in Jammu and Kashmir beside other contributions," he said.

Misra said IEEMA and its members are hopeful that Fayaz Kaloo and his colleagues will continue their important works.

Meanwhile Mehfil Bahar-i-Adab also felicitated Fayaz Kaloo. Former district information officer and president Mehfil Bahar-i-Adab Shahoora Pulwama, Hamid-ullah- Hamid

"The contributions of Fayaz Kaloo towards the betterment of journalism in the state are immense," Hamid said in a statement.

Meanwhile, another faction of DAK led by Dr G M Mir also felicitated Greater Kashmir Editor-in-Chief.

According to Dr Mir Mushtaq, spokesperson quoting Mir said appreciated the contribution of Fayaz Kaloo in highlighting the various issues related to doctors and hospitals through professional journalism.

"We hope that, he along with other members of the group with this new responsibility would work in a positive way and carry forward the ethics of journalism," Mir added.

HE IS AN ASSET OF KASHMIR'

Chairman Kashmir Society Khawaja Farooq Renzushah has also congratulated Fayaz Kaloo. 

"Fayaz Kaloo is asset of Kashmir and his contribution in field of Journalism has attained great importance in present situation. I hope that he will play a key role in projecting liberal thoughts of love and mutual brotherhood. He also conveyed his deep felicitation to the secretary," Rensushah said.
