‘Fight PDP betrayal by ballots’

Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president  and party candidate from Anantnag parliamentary constituency G A Mir Friday reiterated his appeal to the people of Kulgam, Shopian and Pulwama districts asking them to rise to the occasion and fight the ‘betrayal’ of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) by using ballot.

“People should not miss this opportunity as it was a fightbetween communal and secular forces and their vote to the Congress party willstrengthen the secular forces in the country and state,” a spokesman of theJKPCC, in a statement today, quoted G A Mir as having said while addressingparty workers and people’s delegations at Khanabal Anantnag in south Kashmir.

   

Mir said, “People of entire Jammu and Kashmir have witnessedcomplete misrule and mis-governance by the PDP-BJP coalition, who secured votesby playing with their emotions on various counts.”

He said “PDP’s slogan of self-rule, repeal of AFSPA,stopping BJP-RSS from making inroads in valley, bringing back power projects,BJP’s abrogation of special status and many other sensitive issues on whichboth the parties misled people” won the PDP 28 and the BJP 25 seats in 2014elections.

“Despite the contradiction in their approach they formed thealliance by not caring about the aspirations of people both in Jammu andKashmir resulting in anger and anguish among the people, which was alsoresponsible for huge damage caused to peace and development in the state,” he said.

“People are wise enough to understand as to what the PDP isdoing for securing votes keeping aside toffee, milk politics, as if, nothinghas happened in valley, but I am confident this time the betrayal andbackstabbing on the part of PDP will be responded strongly by ensuring it’sdefeat in the elections (sic),” Mir, according to the statement, said, addingthat “PDP, BJP or any other political party can no longer befool people byplaying emotional cards to generate sympathy.”

Mir emphasized the people of south Kashmir to strengthen thesecular forces by ensuring Congress party victory in the present elections andsend a strong voice to parliament to represent them genuinely.
