Fire breaks out at Bone & Joint Hospital Barzulla

Srinagar, Mar 4: A massive blaze engulfed the Bone and Joint hospital Barzulla in uptown Srinagar on Friday night even as the patients are being shifted to safer locations.

News agency GNS while quoting sources reported that the fire emanated from the Emergency believed to have been triggered by a short circuit and has engulfed three wards of Trauma, Recovery and Emergency sections at the time this report was filed.

   

A number of fire tenders were rushed in douse the flames, however the efforts to bring the flames under control were hampered after several gas cylinder explosions exacerbated the fire, the GNS report said.

There were no immediate reports of any injuries to any patient or attendant when this report was filed with officials saying the patients were being evacuated to safer places.

A number of ambulances have been pressed to remove the patients to other hospitals.

A ambulance driver at the spot told GNS that they are taking the patients to “wherever hospital” they find feasible.

Many people from the adjacent areas rushed to the hospital to help authorities bring the fire under control and help the patients and the attendants in evacuation.
