First emergency room at PHC level inaugurated in Ganderbal

In a first, an emergency room (ER) at a primary health center (PHC) was established by directorate of health services Kashmir at Wakoora in Ganderbal district today.

On Saturday, DHSK operationlised the emergency room at PHC Wakoora, the first such center at the primary level across India, a statement said. 

   

Equipped with all the major life saving equipment including life pack 12 (defibrillator), cardiac monitor, portable ventilator, vein finder and other emergency equipments, the ER can manage cardiac and trauma emergencies on modern scientific lines.

In addition to the equipment and drugs, the ER is equipped with a team of trained doctors and paramedics led by Dr Ajaz Ahmad. Dr Ahmed is well versed with handling trauma and cardiac emergencies and has international experience in this field.

The ER was inaugurated by Dr Saleem ur Rehman, Director Health Services, Kashmir. 

Dr Rehman appreciated the work of block medical officer Wakura, Dr Waseem Gangoo and the ER team for making this modern facility a reality.
