Five youth detained during nocturnal raids in Sopore

Five youth were detained by the police during night raids in Zainageer area of Sopore in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

Reports said that the youth were detained during past couple of days after police raided several residential houses in Harwan area of Sopore.

   

They said that the arrests were made following the killing of a civilian Muhammad Ashraf Mir by unknown gunmen earlier this month. His wife was critically injured in the attack that took place on May 4.

Those detained were identified as  Jehangir Ahmed Reshi son of Ghulam Rasool Reshi, Azad Ahmed Bhat son of Abdul Jabar Bhat, Nisar Ahmed Bhat son of Mohammad Sultan Bhat, Bashir Ahmed Najar son of Abdul Khazir Najar, and Arshid Ahmed Dar son of Mohammad Maqbool Dar — all residents of Harwan.

A police official said the youth have been detained for questioning and would be released after proper questioning.
