Government forces on Tuesday morning launched a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in over dozen villages of Shopian district.
Government forces on Tuesday morning had cordoned off at least 13 villages including Kachdora, Chakoo, Batapur, Abahatu, Budur, Landoora, Garhind, Muradpur, Bamun, Tongrikol, Mantreibuk and Harmain, officials said.
Hundreds of forces were deployed in the area for the operation. According to locals, after cordoning off the villages, the forces conducted search operation in orchards and residential areas.
“The inmates in some houses were asked to come out during searches” they said. However, the cordon was lifted in the afternoon from the area. An official said that following input about presence of militants, the operation was launched in orchards and some villages. “The operation ended after no contact was made” he said.
