Forces end 15-hr CASO in Bandipora

The security forces on Friday ended 15-hour-long cordon and search operation (CASO) in Naidkhai village of this district.

A police official said, “after not being able to establishany contact with militants the CASO was called off.”

   

The operation was launched on late Thursday after the forcesreceived inputs about presence of militants in Tengpora mohalla of Naidkhai.

“We received inputs about presence of militants in the area.At around 6 pm we launched the CASO in Tengpora mohalla. Since we couldn’testablish any contact with any militant, we called off the operationpeacefully,” the official said.

Locals said some gunshots were heard in the morning in thearea.  “Earlier the forces had installedlights in the area where searches were being conducted,” they said.

The official said the operation was conducted by joint teamof army’s 13 RR, Special Operations Group (SOG) of J&K Police and CRPF,during which door-to-door searches were conducted.
