Government forces on Wednesday fired several shots in air to disperse a group of youth at Pinjoora village of Shopian district.
Panic gripped Pinjoora and its surrounding area after forces fired several rounds in air to disperse youth and allegedly damaged many vehicles, window panes of buildings. Witnesses said that youth pelted stones on forces vehicles on patrol duty in Pinjoora village today around 10 am. Forces, they said, responded by resorting to aerial firing to disperse them. Locals complained that forces damaged some parked vehicles, window panes of many buildings and a bank. However, a police official denied the allegations.
“Some youth pelted stones on forces and were chased but no damage was made by forces” he said.
