Former Deputy Director Information Fida Ali Shawl passes away

Former Deputy Director, Department of Information and Public Relations, Fida Ali Shawl, 69, passed away Monday morning after a prolonged illness.

Shawl breathed last at his residence at Hakeem Mohalla, Baghwanpora, Lal Bazar and was laid to rest at the family’s ancestral graveyard in the same area.

   

Shawl had also held the position of the media and public relations in-charge during the tenure of former chief minister Omar Abdullah.

Shawl’s pen name was Fida Ali Fida and he penned several literary works such as poetry based on religion and on daily life.

Shawl was well known among people acros Kashmir for his philanthropic activities as well as humble nature.

As per his family members, there would be no congregational prayers while people can extend condolences and pray for the departed soul from their respective homes in view of the ongoing situation owing to COVID-19.

Shawl had also held several other important administrative posts during his career.

People from different walks of life including the media fraternity of Jammu and Kashmir expressed condolences as soon the news regarding Shawl’s demise came in.
