Former PDP leader Raja Aijaz Ali joins Peoples Conference

Former Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader Raja Aijaz Ali joined the Peoples Conference on Wednesday, news agency KNS reported.

Ali, a former Inspector General of Police (IGP), had joined politics in 2014 and secured 19000 votes in the Assembly election held later that year.

He fought the last assembly elections on PDP ticket but was defeated by NC candidate Mohammad Shafi Uri.

He stood next to Congress candidate Taj Mohi-ud-Din who was the nearest rival of Shafi in Uri assembly constituency.

Accusing party leadership of ignoring him, Ali said that his growth in the party was curtailed and he was not politically empowered.

“It was my personal effort in last assembly elections that I bagged 19000 votes in Uri, a place where PDP used to get not more than 1200 votes. However, despite my hard efforts I was side lined in the party,” he had told Greater Kashmir.
