Fresh snowfall throws life out of gear in north Kashmir

The fresh snowfall across north Kashmir on Saturday has thrown life out of gear in several areas.

The road connecting Kupwara district headquarter with Machil, Keran and Tanghdar is closed since the first snowfall lashed the area few weeks back, resulting in the severe hardships to the common people especially the people of far-flung areas of Kupwara district.

“The roads connecting upper reaches of Kupwara district are not cleared completely of the snow. Some of the roads are not motorable. The example is that of a pregnant lady Suraiya who gave birth to a child on road at Srinagar after she was not admitted by the authorities of LD hospital. The said women was earlier carried on shoulders from Moore to Kalaroos and then to Kupwara, as the area has not been cleared,” said Muhammad Ashraf, a resident of Kalaroos, over phone.

The Gurez area of Bandipora district is still disconnected with the district headquarter for last over two weeks. The local residents are facing severe problems.
