Ganderbal admin gears up to deal with traffic congestions

In order to mitigate traffic congestion in Ganderbal town, a slew of measures have been taken up by the administration in the town.

Official sources said that trucks and tippers shall not be allowed to ply through market road Ganderbal town (Towheed Chowk to Beehama road) from 8AM to 6PM.

   

They said the decision to this extent was taken at a meeting of District Road Safety Committee chaired by deputy commissioner, Ganderbal Dr Piyush Singla.

The meeting was attended by SSP Ganderbal, DSP Traffic, Ex-En R&B, ARTO Ganderbal, CMO Ganderbal, CEO Ganderbal, EO Municipality and other members of district road safety committee besides representatives of Mini Bus, Sumo Unions.

The meeting reviewed the prevailing scenario of road safety and steps being taken by the authorities to create awareness among masses to reduce road accidents and promote safe driving. 

The DC gave on spot instructions to concerned line departments for safety audit of major roads. They were asked to identify vulnerable and accident prone spots in the district.

The DC directed the police and the traffic department to work in close liaison for strict checking of traffic rules violation.
