Zakia Binti Ziauddin from Ganderbal district has topped the 12th class examination by securing first position in the commerce stream.
Zakia is a student of Green Valley higher secondary school Ellahibagh Srinagar. She got 489 marks out of 500 (97.8 percent).
“Consistency and hard work never goes waste,” Zakia told the Greater Kashmir at her home in Tulmulla.
“Only 3-4 hour study a day can help a student to achieve success. You need not to be a bookworm if you aim high. One should have a specific strategy and smart work,” she said.
Zakia, whose father is a government employee and mother a lecturer, said that support of her teachers and family helped her. She aspires to pursue business administration.
Zakia’s home is thronged by her relatives and neighbors to congratulate her and the family on the achievement.
“We are very happy and our daughter has made us proud,” Zakia’s father Ziauddin said.
Deputy commissioner Ganderbal Dr Piyush Singla has congratulated Zakia for her success.
