Geelani, Malik, Mirwaiz hold joint meeting at Hyderpora
A meeting is underway among both the factions of the Hurriyat, led by Syed Ali Geelani and Mirwaiz Umar Farooq, and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik at the former's residence in Hyderpora.
Sources said that Mirwaiz Umar Farooq was released from his Nigeen residence today where he was under house arrest after his release from Cheshma Shahi sub jail.
Hurriyat (M) spokesman Shahid-ul-Islam confirmed the development.
He said Mirwaiz has reached at the residence of Geelani and that a meeting is underway.
A JKLF spokesman also confirmed that Yasin Malik was present in the meeting.
It is believed that the three leaders who are spearheading the ongoing protests would discuss the future strategy.
On Nov 2, the authorities had foiled a meeting among the resistance leaders by not allowing the Mirwaiz out of his residence.
Malik had reached outside the residence of Geelani, but a police party stationed at the entry gate prevented him from meeting the octogenarian leader.
