An eighteen-year-old girl tried to commit suicide in a village in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Tuesday for failing to clear class 12 exams, results of which were declared yesterday.
An official said that the girl (name withheld) tried to commit suicide in Qazipora village of Bandipora after consuming some poisonous substance at her home.
“She was shifted to district hospital Bandipora from where she was referred to JVC Srinagar for specialized treatment. She is under observation at JVC,” said the official.
The official said that the girl took the extreme step after she failed to clear class 12 exams.
