Father of the woman, who was spotted with Major Leetul Gogoi in a Srinagar hotel, said on Monday he was waiting for army chief General Bipin Rawat to fulfill his promise of handing exemplary punishment to Gogoi.
“Now that he has been found guilty it is time for army chief to give him exemplary punishment,” said the father.
“Major Gogoi should be given strict punishment otherwise he will trap more gullible girls. Sameer should also be punished,” he said.
Sameer, a local soldier who was also detained for questioning on May 23, was reportedly believed to be luring girls.
The father said he had no clue how his daughter came into contact with Major Gogoi and Sameer.
“After that incident I stopped sending her to school. She now lives with a relative of ours,” he said.
The girl’s father was initially reluctant to speak but gradually opened up. “I neither know Major Gogoi nor Sameer. When the news of their arrest came we were all shocked,” he said.
Ahmed’s wife had told reporters that Major Gogoi had visited their home twice. “One evening he came wearing pheran with Sameer. That day I fainted,” she had said.
