After Kupwara, now locals of Sopore including relatives of murdered goldsmith Tariq Ahmad Malik staged a protest demonstration at Iqbal market Sopore on Thursday demanding the victim’s body and also stern action against those involved. Those allegedly involved in the murder of Tariq Ahmad Malik, 32, of Kalaroos Kupwara have been arrested, but his body is yet to handed over to his family.
Protesters mostly women blocked the road at Iqbal market demanding an exemplary punishment to the accused.
According to police the accused forcibly took the victim from his shop on 26 of December during evening hours and strangulated him before throwing his body into River Jehlum. The accused looted cash and jewellery from the shop of the victim after committing the murder.
Sopore administration is making all efforts to trace out the body from the river.
