Governor amends JKAACL constitution

In exercise of power conferred by section 146 of constitution of Jammu and Kashmir, Governor Satya Pal Malik on Friday made some amendments in the constitution of Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL).

With the amendments in the para 6 of the constitution of JKAACL notified vide SRO 340 of 1963 dated August 14, 1963; the chief minister of the Jammu and Kashmir shall be the president of the academy.

   

“And during the continuation of proclamation issued under section 92 of the constitution of Jammu or Kashmir or Article 356 of the constitution of India as applicable to the state, the academy shall be headed by the Governor in the capacity of president or he may nominate any of his advisors to function as president of the academy,” reads a notification issued by the commissioner secretary to the government, culture department, Jammu and Kashmir.

It also reads, “In sub clause (i) of clause (b), before the words ‘subject to the provision’, the words and sign ‘the president’ shall be added.”

“In clause (vi), for the words ‘chief minister’, the word ‘president’ shall be substituted,” the notification reads further.
