Govt formulates snow clearance plan for 17,000 km road length in Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 19: With the onset of winter, the divisional administration has devised a snow clearance plan for 17,000 kilometers of road length in the Kashmir division.

In J&K, the Kashmir region witnesses heavy snowfall during winter months, often leading to the closure of roads and halting traffic movement.

To be better prepared this time around the government has devised a plan ahead.

A senior government official informed the Administrative Council under the chairmanship of Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha earlier this year that the officials had been stressed to keep snow clearance plans ready to ensure hassle-free movement of people post snowfall.

“Priority-wise action plan approved by the Administrative Council about snow clearance should be implemented in letter and spirit without any deviation. Further, Deputy Commissioners (DCs) and line departments including Roads and Buildings (R&B), Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), and Urban Local Bodies (ULBs) should caution people through notifications not to throw snow on the roads,” reads a note of the minutes of the meeting chaired by Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Pandurang K Pole.
