Govt to create material bank for infrastructural growth: LG Murmu

A delegation of Jammu and Kashmir Contractors Coordination Committee (JKCCC) Monday called on the Lieutenant Governor (LG), Girish Chandra Murmu here at Raj Bhavan.

The delegation led by Chairman, JKCCC,Ghulam Jeelani Burza, apprised the LG about their concerning issues and otherimpediments in the progress of development projects across Jammu and Kashmir.

   

The delegation comprising the members fromboth Jammu and Kashmir divisions put forth the issues related to delayedpayments terming it as main reason for slow pace of works.

The LG assured the delegation that thegovernment was committed to release all their authorized payments. He said acomprehensive budgeting has to be done in this regard which can bring someimmediate changes on the ground for all the stakeholders.

The LG said the government was alreadyplanning to create a material bank for smooth infrastructural growth inJ&K.

“We are mulling to create our own materialbank which will help us bring all the raw material under one roof,” he said.

He observed that the government was aimingto make a comprehensive plan for infrastructure development in Jammu andKashmir. “This would be done to remove bottlenecks in the implementation offast track infrastructure projects,” he said.

The LG hailed the role of local contractorsand builders in putting Jammu and Kashmir back on the track of development andprosperity. He said separate internet counters would be setup district-wise, sothat the contractors could file their tenders and GST and Income Tax returns.
