Granting Ladakh separate division ploy to trifurcate state: Sehrai

Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) chairman Muhammad Ashraf Sehrai on Saturday said that granting separate administrative and revenue division to Ladakh is a “part of New Delhi’s plan to trifurcate the state on political, cultural and religious lines.”

“By adopting different tactics, New Delhi is hell bent to influence the disputed nature of Jammu Kashmir under the garb of development. Granting separate administrative and revenue division to Ladakh is well thought out plan to trifurcate the state and break it up into small regions and ghettos,” Sehrai, said in a statement.

He said, “New Delhi and anti-Kashmir think tank are hell-bent to alter the existing set-up and further divide Jammu Kashmir. These forces have started process of state’s Balkanization. The division is aimed at disintegrating the whole territory into smaller regions and states to create hostility, wedge and non-cooperation among the people on the final political settlement of Kashmir dispute. Their ill intentions and designs are visible as the very same forces oppose tooth and nail when it comes to Pir panchal and Chenab Valley.”

He said, “It’s a well-thought-out ploy to fiddle with the Muslim majority character of JK and it’s internationally recognized basic character. These forces are working hard to sabotage the future referendum process in J&K and are hatching conspiracies to achieve the desired results.”

“From Srinagar to New Delhi, efforts are being made to shift focus from core Kashmir issue by portraying it away from its historical and ethical background,” he added.

Meanwhile, Sehrai expressed grief over the loss of lives in the snow avalanche at the Jawahar tunnel, saying “This unnatural route has claimed thousands of lives and people are often left to fend for themselves facing crisis and shortage of supplies as all other natural routes to outside world have been closed by the authorities.”  Sehrai said.
