Jammu and Kashmir Police on Thursday said that they recovered the gun snatched from a bank ATM guard in Shopian within hours.
A spokesman said that three “misguided youngsters” who had snatched the 12-bore rifle were let off after counseling.
“Today, at 3 pm some miscreants had snatched a 12 bore gun from a private guard from JK Bank Branch Pinjura Shopian. Upon receiving information, police swung into action and started meticulous investigation. On the basis of accurate human & technical inputs the boys were identified,” he said.
The police, he said, decided to adopt a humane approach as three boys involved were found to be only “misguided youngsters” from the village. “So their parents and senior citizens of the area were contacted and the search for boys was carried out,” said the spokesman, adding the boys were left off after proper counselling.
