Gunfight underway in south Kashmir’s Kulgam; three militants likely trapped

A gunfight broke out between militants and the goverment forces in Redwani area of Qaimoh in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday.

Reports said that a joint team of army’s 1RR, CRPF and SOG cordoned off Redwani after midnight following inputs about the presence of militants.

   

They said the militants opened fire after a search party approached the house in which they were hiding. The forces retaliated, leading to a gunfight which was on when last reports came.

On Twitter, police said that contact has been established with the militants and that an exchange of fire took place around 3 am.

Quoting sources, news agency GNS reported that two to three militants are believed to be trapped in the area.
