Unidentified gunmen shot dead a youth in Harwan Tujar area of Sopore tehsil in Baramulla district on Wednesday evening, the police said.
The youth identified as Arif Ahmad Sofi (25) son of Muhammad Maqbool, originally a resident of Unsoo Handwara, was working as salesman with a pharmaceutical company. He was living with his maternal uncle since his childhood.
Giving details about the incident, senior superintendent of police Sopore, Harmeet Singh said that at around 7.5 pm, Arif was called by some persons.
“Once he came out, they shot him from point-blank range,” the SSP said, adding that Arif died on the spot.

“We are trying to ascertain further facts,” he said, adding that area has been cordoned off to track the attackers.
“He was a salesman and nothing else,” he said.
