Hailstorm followed by heavy rains hit several villages of Kandi area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday causing damage to apple orchards and crops. The hailstorm lasted for at least ten minutes.
Affected villages include Shumlaran, Katyawali, Laridora,Gohan and Nowgam. “Apple orchards suffered damages” said Ghulam Hassan, aresident of Shumlaran.
The residents of the affected villages have urged districtauthorities to dispatch a team of officials to assess the losses and accordinglycompensate the affected villagers.
