Chairman of Peoples Democratic Front and MLA Khansahib Hakeem Yaseen has strongly condemned thrashing of journalists by forces at the gun fight site at Fatehkadal here on Wednesday, when they were performing their professional duty.
In a statement Hakeem Yaseen urged the Governor’s administration to ensure protection to journalists. He demanded action against the security personnel involved in thrashing the journalist adding that SOPs for both security forces and journalists should be rolled out to check harassment to the journalist fraternity.
While hailing journalists working in Kashmir, Hakeem Yaseen said that the media persons have been rendering appreciable work in the conflict zone at the cost of their lives. He said that thrashing of journalists in a deplorable act and is against the freedom of press.
