Handwara youth booked under PSA

A youth of Kralgund, Handwara in north Kashmir’s Kupwara district has been booked under PSA and shifted to Kot Bhalwal jail, Jammu for his ‘anti-national activities.’

A police official said that Aijaz Ahamd Bhat, 28, son oflate Habibullah Bhat, a resident of Nihama Kralgund was sent to Kot Balwal jailMonday late evening after the district authorities approved his PSA detentionunder order number DMK/PSA/12/2019.

   

According to police, Bhat was involved in anti-nationalactivities.

“Bhat was arrested in October last year in a case registeredat P/S Kralgund vide FIR number 90/2018 under sections 18, 39 ULA Act andsection 124 RPC,” he said.

Bhat’s mother, Shahmali Begum said in March his soncompleted six months (180 days) in the jail and was released by the TADA courtin Srinagar.

“He was taken to police station Handwara where the officialstold me that they will release him after few days,” Shahmali said.

She said that before he would have been released the datesof elections were announced. “We were again told by the police authorities thathe will be released after elections are over. But yesterday he was booked underPSA and without my knowledge he was shifted to Jammu jail,” she said.

Bhat is the only sole bread winner of his family comprisinghis old aged mother Shahmali Begum (60), wife Shazia (26) and two year olddaughter Zainab Ajaz.

Bhat with Master’s in History was running a wholesale fastfoods shop in Handwara.
