HC directs NIOS to allow 250 students of appear in exams

The High court on Friday directed National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) to allow 250 students of secondary and senior secondary classes in the examination scheduled to be held from April 2.  

While hearing a petition by Srinagar Group of Schools KarsuRajbagh- an accredited institution of NOIS, a bench of Justice Dhiraj SinghThakur issued notice to Ministry of Human Resource Development Government ofIndia, NIOS through its chairman and its Regional Director. Assistant SolicitorGeneral Tahir Majid Shamsi accepted notice on behalf of Union Ministry.     

   

Meanwhile in its interim direction, the court directed therespondents to accept the examination as well as the admission fee fromSrinagar Group of Schools Karsu Rajbagh through the online mode or through bankdraft notwithstanding the fact that the last date was already over. 

 “Let the needful bedone within one week. Further the students be allowed to sit in theexamination,” the court said and posted the case for further hearing on May21.       

The Srinagar Group of Schools had approached the courtthrough its counsel Altaf Haqani seeking directions for allowing the studentsto sit in the secondary and senior secondary examination 

The petitioner is seeking direction to NIOS through itschairman and its Regional Director to accept the examination and admissionforms and the fee of the students for the session March- April 2019
