J&K High Court Monday quashed detention of Kashmir Lawyers’ body General Secretary and two others who were booked under Public Safety Act.
Bench of Justice TashiRabstan quashed the detention ofMuhammad Ashraf Bhat, General Secretary of Kashmir High Court Bar Associationand two others, Bilal Ahmad Bhat of TralBala in Pulwama district and MudasirAhmad Wani of Pazalpora Tehsil in District Bandipora. The court directed the government as well asthe Jail authorities concerned to release them immediately, if they are notinvolved in some other offence.
Bhat was arrested from his home on 13 September 2019 andsubsequently placed under preventive detention.
On behalf of Bhat, senior advocate Z A Qureshi with advocateRehana pleaded that the detenue is a lawyer who practises in J&K High Courtand other courts.
