HCBA condemns Kulgam youth’s killing

Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Srinagar has condemned the killing of a 24-year old youth Rouf Ahmed, who was killed in forces firing at Chowgam in Kulgam district on Saturday.

In a statement here a HCBA spokesman said, “Bar strongly condemns the killing of a 24-year-old youth and injuring of two dozen civilians, who were protesting near the site of a gun fight at Chowgam. Use of bullets and pellets by the forces at unarmed protesters is barbaric and inhuman.”

   

The HCBA spokesman urged the international community to intervene in Kashmir and “save the people from the onslaught of the forces who are killing and blinding the innocent people with impunity” and the world is watching the massacre of innocents silently and without putting any pressure on New Delhi to stop the “grave human rights violations in Kashmir, which is highly deplorable.”

He said that the Bar Association also supports the strike call given by the Joint Resistance  Leadership for Monday to protest against the civilian killings and request its members to abstain from court work on that day to express solidarity with the cause.

The spokesman said that general body meeting of the Bat was  held at district court complexhere to pay tributes Peer Hissam-ud-din, advocate, who was murdered on this day in 2004 at his Bemina residence, by unknown gunmen. ” He was killed because he was the staunch supporter of the demand of the right of self-determination of the people of Kashmir guaranteed to them by the United Nations Security Council Resolutions,” he added.
