HCBA demands action against forces involved in killing of Nadihal youth
Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association (HCBA) today condemned the killing of 22-year old youth Waseem Ahmad Lone by the armed forces at Nadihal area of Rafiabad in district Baramulla.
The HCBA demanded action against the forces involved in the killing alleging "he was shot at and killed when he was harvesting his crops."
"The Bar Association also condemns the injuring of hundreds of youth, who were subjected to bullet and pellet injuries after Friday prayers, in different parts of Kashmir. We also condemned the massive crackdown on the pro-freedom leaders and their activists all Kashmir and putting curbs on the offering of Friday prayers at Jamia Masjid Srinagar on the 11th consecutive Friday," a spokesman of the HCBA, in a statement today, said.
"Meanwhile, Bar at its executive committee meeting, decided to file a Special Leave Petition/Review Petition against the order of the Division Bench of the High Court of J& K dated 21.09.2016, where-under, on the one hand the High Court has admitted the writ petition filed by the Bar Association for stopping of the use of pellet guns, in so far it relates to the determination and payment of compensation to the pellet victims and for their treatment inside and outside the State, but on the hand has dismissed the same with regard to the stopping the use of pellet guns and prosecution of those, who actually fired the pellets and cause unlawful bodily injury to the people and also deprived hundreds of them of their eye sight," the spokesman said.
