Underscoring that Kashmir issue is not a "Halla Gulla", Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bar Association Srinagar on Tuesday said the issue is about genuine and legitimate demand of the people of Kashmir to decide their future.
"This is not Halla Gulla (commotion) as is being said. This issue is about genuine and legitimate demand of the people of Kashmir to decide their future," Bar president, Mian Abdul Qayoom said, while addressing a gathering of lawyers outside High Court premises here.
The lawyers took out a protest march from High Court complex to the main road where they were addressed by the Bar president. They were holding placards displaying slogans like "We want freedom; stop genocide."
"This protest is against the killing of people. They are being blinded with pellets and for how long will this continue," the Bar president said.
Referring to the statement of Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti, the Bar president said: "You cannot describe it as Halla Gulla and if you are saying so, you are making statement against United Nations resolutions. This is insult to the people of Kashmir."
