The J&K High Court Bar Association on Wednesday said it would urged the committee constituted on directions of Supreme Court to order release of all J&K detenues and political prisoners lodged in and outside the Union Territory.
In a statement the Association said it would also alsoimpress upon the committee to order release of the Bar President. The statementsaid the President Bar Association, was presently lodged in Central Jail Tihar,New Delhi.
The statement said the Bar President, Mian Abdul Qayoom, whowas in his advanced age surviving on a single kidney, suffering from multiplechronic ailments which include diabetes, hypertension, severe nerve damage, 60percent blockage in one of the arteries of heart, resulting in his frail immunesystem, was more prone to become victim of deadly virus.
The Bar members also resolved to make a fervent appeal tothe authorities that all these detenues/undertrial political prisoners includingQayoom, who is suffering badly, be released immediately and forthwith.
