High-speed Internet suspended in Budgam on second straight day

High-speed mobile Internet remained suspended in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Monday for second straight day following scuffle between two groups over management of a mosque in Magam town.

Several people were injured in the scuffle that broke out between two groups of Shia community over the management of a mosque.

   

The busy market came to a standstill following the scuffle.

The district administration imposed section 144 CrPc in the area to prevent further deterioration of law and order situation.

When contacted, Deputy Commissioner Budgam Syed Sehrish Asghar said that the high-speed Internet was suspended to law and order issue in the district.

“There is an apprehension of disturbance of peace in the district. There are two, three issues due to which Internet speed has been reduced, one of the issues is Magam scuffle,” she told Greater Kashmir.

She said the service would be restored soon.  

Meanwhile, traders, students and other professionals of the district have expressed dismay over the sudden suspension of high speed Internet by the authorities.
