Hizbul Mujhadeen Wednesday paid rich tribute to its first communication chief Imtiyaz Ahmed Parray of Cherhara Beerwah on his 21st "martyrdom" anniversary.
Salim Hashmi, the Hizb spokesperson in a statement to local news agency CNS while quoting the Hizb chief Syed Salahuddin said, "Imtiyaz Ahmed was an MSc Botany from Kashmir University who left government job to fight against Delhi's rule in Kashmir. From Islamabad to Kupwara and from the dense forests and mountains of Kishtwar and Doda, Imtiyaz Ahmed Parray kept militants in touch with one another through his skills."
Hashmi said that Salahuddin during his address to Hizb Command Council hailed the role and contribution of slain communication chief towards the Kashmir struggle.
The Hizb chief, according to the statement, also paid rich tributes to two militants killed in Khonmoh encounter on January 26. "Forces exhibited their frustration by disfiguring the bodies of two militants," he added.
