Hospital medicines recovered from Tangmarg forest area

Following information about dumping of hospital supply medicines at a forest area in Tangmarg in Baramulla district, Assistant Controller Drugs Baramulla along with a team of officials on Sunday raided two places at Gogaldara Tangmarg and retrieved huge quantity of medicines after digging an isolated place in the area. 

The retrieved medicine, which according to the officials is worth lakhs of rupees, is the hospital supply and was meant to be distributed among poor patients. Tangmarg police have registered an FIR in this connection. 

   

“After seizing the drugs, for four consecutive days we searched the area and finally on July 21 we retrieved huge quantity of medicines near a culvert beneath the ground in Gogaldara area,” said Bashir Ahmad, Assistant drug controller Baramulla. “Among the retrieved medicine include huge quantity of antibiotics, cough syrup and other medicines”.

He said that an inquiry has been initiated to ascertain why this medicine, which was meant for the needy patients in the hospital, was dumped in this manner.   Most of the poor patients who cannot buy medicine from the market have often complained that the hospital authorities are not providing medicine to the needy patients.
