Expressing serious over the plight of pellet victims, Hurriyat Conference (G) today said recent reports of the ophthalmologists from reputed health care centre was "alarming and worrying.

"As per analysis these pellets contain some material which when fired with high velocity and strikes the eye, damages its delicate tissue, which burn and crumple from inside turning it into charcoal like substances. This substance is lethal to the human tissue, especially eyes and it is almost impossible to separate it and regain the normal structures. Such a situation is distressing and disturbing that how the tall claims of so-called world's largest democracy are just a hoax and lip service, when actually they vengefully ruin the life of our populace by blinding and crippling them for life. Such lethal and fatal weapons are nowhere used, but we are being punished and penalized only for our faith and resolve for our freedom," a spokesman of the Hurriyat, in a statement today, said.

The spokesman said, "even the brutalities have a limit. Every year we come up with the figures of deaths, rapes, destruction, arrests and this year we have to add the dead eyes to the list, courtesy 'battle of ideas' and the deceitful slogan of 'talks no bullets'. The visionless government has darkened and ruined the life of those who have voted these hypocrites to power. Their universe is blackened by those 'distributing the lights'."

Meanwhile, Tehreek-e-Hurriyat (TeH) on Wednesday condemned slapping of PSA on its Ameer Hamza Shah and detention of its activists including Omar Farooq Dar, Bashir Ahmad Sofi and Sarjan Ahmad, saying "These arbitrary arrests and detentions won't deter us from pursuing the sacred cause of freedom."

Referring to slapping of PSA against Ameer Hamza, the spokesman, in a statement today, said, "There is no justification as first PSA is yet to be quashed by legal authorities." He condemned the ransacking of house of TeH activist Sabzar Ahmad and residential houses in Arinhaal Islamabad (Anantnag).
