Hurriyat (G) leaders, activists hold protest march against killings, arrests

Hurriyat Conference (G) today organized a protest march against the recent phenomenal increase in the ‘selective, mysterious and custodial’ killing of political activists, scholars and intellectuals allegedly by the agencies and arrest of innocent people including journalists, students and political activists on ‘fictitious grounds’.

“The protesters, chanting slogans to stop innocent killings, custodial killings and incarceration of youth, were demanding intervention of United Nations Human Rights Commission to take serious cognisance of the grass violation of human rights in Jammu and Kashmir,” the Hurriyat spokesman said in a statement, adding that “The protesters, while marching towards the main Chowk, Hyderpora, displayed the placards and banners written in Urdu and English to highlight their demands to safeguard their political and civil rights and right to self-determination.”

“The protestors also raised slogans for complete boycott of any upcoming polls in the state,” he added.
