Hurriyat Conference (M) Wednesday strongly denounced the government’s decision to place the chairman of the amalgam Mirwaiz Umar Farooq under house arrest.
“The move is autocratic which reflects the paranoid mindset of the ruling class. Confining Mirwaiz to his house every alternate day is part of a well-planned conspiracy to restrict his movement and to create a gap between people and him. Frequent house confinement of Mirwaiz has not only affected his social and political engagements but religious duties as well,” Hurriyat (M) spokesperson said in a statement.
“Meanwhile, Mirwaiz thanked Almighty Allah for the successful liver transplant surgery of Hurriyat’s executive council member and president of the Itehad-ul-Muslimeen Moulana Masroor Abbas Ansari in Delhi. He prayed for his full and speedy recovery,” the statement said.
