Hurriyat (M) denounces ‘ongoing arrest spree’

Hurriyat Conference (M) has strongly denounced the “ongoing arrest spree” wherein religious scholars, leaders, and activists, are being detained in bulk and lodged in various police stations.

Hurriyat (M) spokesman termed the “crackdown as the ultimate highhandedness of the authorities to weaken the ongoing peaceful Kashmir struggle. This all is being done under a well-thought-out plan which is getting exposed with each passing day.”

He said that the arrest of senior Hurriyat (M) leader Mukhtar Ahmed Waza and lodging him in Joint Interrogation Centre Achabal and also the arrest of AAC tehsil president Chair-e-Sharief Haji Muhammad Younis and lodging him in Central Jail Srinagar besides the arrest of dozens of youth and activists speaks volumes about the “authoritarian approach” of the state administration.

“Conducting nocturnal raids on the homes of leaders and activists, and launching the intense crackdown across Kashmir that results in the ultimate harassment of youth and people seems to be a move to divert the ongoing Kashmir struggle but those behind this conspiracy should read writing on the wall that such ploys are destined to fail,” the spokesman added.

He also paid rich tributes to the armed youth killed in an encounter at Kulgam district with the government forces. “Youth of Kashmir are being pushed to the wall due to the ultimate oppression being unleashed by the forces and they are left with the no choice other than to pick up arms as the situation in Kashmir is going from bad to worse,” he added.
