
Srinagar, Nov 12: Police on Friday claimed to have arrested a hybrid militant of TRF outfit, a shadow outfit of the LeT as per police in central Kashmir's Ganderbal district.
News agency GNS quoted a police statement saying that the accused Arshad Ahmad Mir son of Mohammad Subhan Mir resident of Sehpora, Ganderbal was held at a checkpoint near Khann area of the district on Thursday by a police party.
"The individual was challenged who instead of complying with the signs and command, tried to flee. The individual was overpowered and apprehended on spot, " police said.
Subsequently, FIR No 211/21 U/S 13, 39 of ULA (P) ACT and 7/25 of Arms Act was registered in Police station Ganderbal and investigation set into motion.
As per police, the accused "was found as a staunch associate of Lashkar-e-Toiba/TRF whose name had surfaced during earlier investigations also".
Preliminary investigation, police said, has also revealed that the accused has also been involved in recruitment of his own brother Lateef Ahmad Mir arrested in FIR 57/21 u/s 13, 39 ULA (P) Act & 7/25 Arms Act of police station Kheer Bhawani.
"Other individuals motivated and facilitated for recruitment by hybrid militant Arshad Ahmad Mir are being identified and further arrests/ recoveries are expected".
