I hope Kashmir Pandits will return to their homeland: Mirwaiz

Chairman of Hurriyat (M) Mirwaiz Umar Farooq today hoped that Kashmiri Pandits will return to their homeland and once again live with their Muslim brethren.

“On the occasion of Heerath extend warm greetings to our Kashmiri pandith community. Hope that they return to their homeland and once again live among us as before,” Mirwaiz Umar Farooq tweeted.

Meanwhile, Hurriyat (M) spokesperson has decried restrictions in Downtown today. “Ruling dispensation is repeatedly imposing curbs in entire Downtown without any proper justification. The move amounts to violation of basic democratic principles. Just after a single incident anywhere in Jammu and Kashmir, government wastes no time in imposing curbs in Downtown and confining people in their homes without worrying for the basic rights of people living in downtown, Srinagar,” the spokesperson said.

He said apart from the curbs, the resistance leadership is placed under house arrest thus violating their rights to movement. “The chairman of the amalgam, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq continues to remain under house arrest since past over two weeks at his Nigeen residence with the result he is not able to fulfill his religious, social and political duties,” the statement added.
