‘Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight’ launched in Baramulla

Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Dr G N Itoo today launched Intensified Diarrhoea Control Fortnight (IDCF) at a function organized by Block Medical Officer Sherri at Primary Health Centre (PHC) Sheeri.

The function was attended by CMO, Baramulla,  other district officers, ASHA and AnganwadiWorkers, civil society members and other prominent sections of the society, anofficial handout said.

   

IDCF, which commences today, is a special campaign duringwhich several activities shall be organized so that people are sensitizedregarding the causes and consequences of the disease.

Speaking on the occasion, DC complimented the concerned forlaunching this important campaign and urged upon various stakeholders includingpublic representatives to play a proactive role for the complete eradication ofdiarrhoea.

He stressed for dissemination of awareness among masses andurged upon them to preserve water bodies terming contaminated drinking water asthe main cause of the disease.

Emphasizing upon the people to maintain their surroundingsclean, DC said that the teachers have a greater role as they can educate thestudents regarding its ill consequences. He also directed the PHE department toensure clean water tanks and reservoirs so that the potable drinking water issupplied to the people.
