Interlocutor Sharma a CBM, more to follow on his urging: Khanna

The BharatiyaJanta Party (BJP) on Sunday said that after feedback from the centre’s interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma there could be more confidence building measures for Kashmir.

It also said Agenda of Alliance (AoA) with Peoples Democratic Party is being reviewed from time to time.

“Interlocutor Dineshwar Sharma is one of the Confidence Building Measures,” BJP national vice president and J&K in-charge AvinashRai Khanna, told reporters here. “After his feedback there will be more CBMs.”

Khanna referred to Prime Minister NarendraModis’ speech on 15 August 2017 at Red Fort wherein he had said that Na Goli Se, Na Gaali Se, Kashmir kiSamasyaSuljhegi Gale Lagaane Se. (Kashmir’s problems can be solved only with embracing the people of Kashmir, not with bullets or abuses).”

“Our PM addresses people across country directly 13 times a year, 12 times through Radio and once at Red Fort,” he said adding Sharma’s appointment as an interlocutor was the result of PM’s Red Fort speech only. “Not only PM but everyone wants peace should return to Kashmir.”

Khanna dissociated the BJP from the statements issued by the axed minister and the BJP leader Chaudhary Lal Singh. “We have clarified our stand. Whatever Lal Singh says are his own statements and party has nothing to do with that,” he said. “BJP stands committed that those who are involved in Kathua rape and murder are given exemplary punishment.”

The senior BJP leader said that they feel sad when Kashmir witnesses killings, bandh, cancellation of examinations and other sort of violence. “We want overall improvement in law and order. Every effort is being made for improvement in law and order”

Khanna said that successful tourism can generate more employment in Kashmir and that is only possibly when there is peace. “Peaceful Kashmir is the priority of central and state governments,” he said adding that central government is leaving any stone unturned for development in J&K.

He said the centre reviews development works regularly in J&K. “The development in Kashmir is one of our prime agendas,” he said adding that center has never stopped funds for the development in J&K.

Talking about the criticism that the Agenda of Alliance (AoA) was not being implemented, Khanna said that the coordination committee regularly takes stock of its implementation.
