IUST flags off exposure visit of BS DYOD students

Awantipora, Jan 30: Professor Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Vice Chancellor IUST, today flagged off a group of 30 students who will visit different institutes across the country. The educational tour aimed to provide experiential learning to the students would expose them to innovative learning pedagogies.

Addressing the students, the Vice Chancellor advised them to make the best of this opportunity and engage with the faculty and students of the different institutes and gain new perspectives of knowledge and learning.

   

In the first leg of the tour, the students, among other places, shall visit Cluster Innovation Institute Delhi University and Jammu University, where they would participate in different activities and gain hands-on experience. The group will be on 7 day tour and are accompanied by faculty including Dr Ruheela Hassan, Dr Hilal Ahmad Makroo and Mr Nawaz Pandit.

Prof Romshoo also said that DYOD is a novel concept that allows students to explore their potential and harness their talent through learning by experimenting and experiencing the real-world problems. The programme inspired by the NEP 2020 offers multiple entry, exit and allows students to transcend discipline centric boundaries of the traditional learning approach.

The students will have the opportunity to earn credits from diverse domains and specialise in the fields of AI, Data Science, Mathematical Science, English and others.

The course shall also have special focus on skilling and entrepreneurship and the students shall be encouraged to work on innovative ideas which will be evaluated for market potential and supported with seed grant.

The flag off was also attended by Prof Naseer Iqbal, Registrar IUST, Prof Sheikh Javid, Dean Research,  Sameer Wazeer, Finance Officer, Deans of Schools and other officers of the University.
