Jama'at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir today condemned continued detention of its 80-year old activist Sheikh Muhammad Yousuf of Sopore under PSA.
"Sheikh Muhammad Yousuf has again been detained under the Public Safety Act (PSA). He was apprehended by police station Sopore on August 8, 2016 and on August 10, his first detention order was imposed and he was kept in district jail Kupwara. The High Court quashed his detention keeping his old and infirm age in addition to the prima facie false allegation in view but the police quite contrary to the court orders kept him in police station Sopore and on November 24, 2016, he was again detained under Public Safety Act. This order was also quashed but the detainee was again shifted to police station Sopore and on March, 18, 2017, 3rd detention order was passed and he was taken to Baramulla Jail," the Jama'at spokesman Advocate Zahid Ali, in a statement today, said.
