Jama’at condemns ‘prolonged’ detention of its leaders

Jama'at-e-Islami Jammu and Kashmir has condemned the continuous arrest of several of its leaders terming it "violation of human rights."

Jama'at in a statement said, police today produced is spokesperson advocate Zahid Ali and Farooq Ahmad Sheikh (Amir Tehsil Kulgam) were remanded to judicial custody till 21st of September, 2017. "Pertinently, both the leaders have been detained by  police on 4th August and later on sent them to District Jail Mattan, Islamabad. Jama'at appeals international community including human rights groups to take strong note of the volatile situation being faced by hapless, innocent and unarmed Kashmiris at the hands of government forces and appeals them to come fore for the resolution of Kashmir dispute as per the wishes and aspirations of concerned people without any further delay," the statement added.
